Do a Great Manicure at Home
Everyone surely loves to pamper their hands with manicures from time to
time. Going out to the salon to pamper oneself with a professional manicure
session is definitely the most therapeutic experience. But not everyone can
afford such expensive sessions, and many of us do not even have enough time to
treat our tips.
Pampering your beautiful hands and fingernails at home is a
great option that can save a lot of money and time. You
can follow steps for those perfectly elegant and beautiful hands and nails just
like an exorbitant manicure session.
Step 1: Remove
previous nail polish
Before
starting at home manicure you must make sure to remove your previously applied
nail paint. Use a nail polish remover which is acetone free and dab it on a
cotton ball to remove the nail paint properly. Avoid scratching your nails.
Step 2: File your nails
You
can start by clipping your nails and then gently start filing them. Make sure
your nails are completely dry before you start filing because wet nails are
soft and can easily be broken.
Step 3: Soak and scrub
Soak
your hands in warm water. This is one of the most therapeutic parts of a manicure session. Heat
some water; make sure the water temperature is suitable for soaking hands. Add
a foaming cleanser to the water. Keep your hands in the water for three minutes
anything more than that will dry your hands.
After
you have properly washed your hands, it’s time to scrub. You can use a scrubber
(body or face exfoliates can work too). Use a brush to gently rub your hands,
nails, and cuticles. This step will remove the dead skin from your hands making
them soft and gentle to touch. After exfoliating, wash your hands with clean
water and dry it with a towel.
Step 4: Remove the cuticles and calluses
Apply
a cuticle remover and cut the thickened part around the cuticles. You can also
use a cuticle pusher to push the cuticles away from the nails. Also, cut the
hangnails around the side of your nails. These steps must be carefully done as
you do not want to push the cuticles too far or cut the entire nail.
Step 5: Apply a
moisturizer
Now that you have
completely cleaned your hands it’s time to pamper them. Use a rich, silky and
creamy moisturizer and gently apply it all over your hands and cuticles. You
can use a regular face moisturizer, body lotion or hand cream. You can also use
oil if you do not have a moisturizer in hand. This step is important as it
hydrates your hands to give it a soft and tender feel.
Step 6: Apply a nail polish
Before
applying a nail polish you must use a base coat. This prevents nails from
staining because of the nail paint and also prevents nails from chipping
especially if you have soft and brittle nails. Apply your favourite nail colour.
Generally, two layers of the nail colour will do the job. Allow each layer to
dry between the coats for amazing results. After your nail polish has completely
dried apply a top coat to give it a shiny and glossy finish.
